When are wireless sensors the solution?
Industrial cabling is expensive, slow and sometimes simply not feasible. Running a data cable from a sensor to the control panel can cost more than the sensor itself β especially in large plants, mine sites, farmland or installations at height.
Industrial wireless sensors solve exactly that problem: they let you instrument any measurement point without cabling infrastructure, with battery life of months or years, and with secure communication to the control system or dashboard.
Technologies we implement
| Technology | Range | Battery life | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| LoRaWAN | 2β15 km | 2β10 years | Open field, mine sites, environmental monitoring |
| Industrial WiFi | 50β300 m | Powered, or months | Indoor plant, high data frequency |
| Cellular IoT (LTE-M / NB-IoT) | Nationwide | 1β5 years | Remote assets without WiFi or LoRa coverage |
| Zigbee / Mesh | 10β100 m | Months | Dense sensor networks in enclosed spaces |
The choice of technology depends on the required range, the sampling frequency, the environmental conditions and the existing infrastructure. In our consulting we evaluate all of these variables before recommending a solution.
Types of sensors available
We work with industrial-grade wireless sensors (IP65 or higher) for the following measurements:
- Temperature and humidity β environmental monitoring, cold chain, thermal processes
- Vibration and acceleration β condition of bearings, motors, pumps and compressors
- Level β tanks, silos, wells β ultrasonic or hydrostatic pressure
- Flow β pipes without modification, using ultrasonic clamp-on sensors
- Pressure β monitoring of pneumatic, hydraulic and process lines
- Gases and air quality β COβ, CO, VOCs, suspended dust
- Electrical energy β consumption per circuit without cutting cables, using wireless CTs
- GPS / Location β tracking of assets, vehicles and containers
LoRaWAN: the star technology for industry
LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is the wireless technology that has grown the most in industrial applications in recent years, and with good reason: it combines very long range (up to 15 km in open field), very low power consumption (batteries that last years) and penetration through buildings and metal structures that other technologies cannot match.
The LoRaWAN architecture has three main components: the sensors with a LoRa module, a LoRaWAN Gateway that can cover a radius of kilometers, and a Network Server that manages the devices and delivers the data to the target system.
Our consulting process
Phase 1 β Survey and design (1 week)
We visit the site, identify the required measurement points, evaluate environmental conditions and signal coverage, and design the wireless architecture. We deliver a coverage map and a technical specification for each sensor.
Phase 2 β Validation pilot (1 to 2 weeks)
We install a subset of sensors at the most representative points to validate coverage, battery life and data quality before the full implementation. This phase removes surprises from the large-scale rollout.
Phase 3 β Full implementation (2 to 4 weeks)
We install all the sensors, configure the gateways and connect the data to the target system: it can be your existing SCADA via OPC UA, our Historian I4, or directly Grafana and Power BI.
Phase 4 β Dashboard and alerts (1 week)
We configure the monitoring dashboard with real-time visualization of all sensors, threshold alerts (temperature out of range, abnormal vibration, critical level) and periodic automatic reports.
Who is this consulting for?
- Plants that want to instrument hard-to-reach points without investing in cabling
- Companies with assets spread across the field (agribusiness, mining, utilities, drinking water)
- Facilities that need cold chain monitoring with full traceability
- Plants that want predictive maintenance based on motor vibration and temperature
- Companies with DGA requirements (Chile's water authority) or other continuous environmental monitoring regulations
Brands we work with
We are distributors and partners of the leading brands in industrial wireless sensors: Milesight (industrial LoRaWAN sensors), RAKwireless (LoRaWAN gateways), Robustel (cellular IoT routers) and Shelly (WiFi automation). This lets us offer the most suitable solution for each application with direct technical support.
Do you have measurement points that are hard to cable?
Tell us about your case. We evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of a wireless solution for your plant β at no cost and with no obligation.
